Description
Vakkerlight · Alabaster Floor Series
Solavera Alabaster Mosaic Floor Lamp
A drum shade hand-pieced from small alabaster tiles — roughly eight rows of square blocks set side by side, each one a slightly different cut of the same warm honey stone. The shade rests on a tapered black steel pole that narrows from base to top, finishing on a slim black disc that anchors the lamp on the floor. When the bulb is on, the alabaster tiles glow individually, and the soft grid of grout lines between them stays visible as a faint dark lattice — light filtered through stone, with structure. Available in three heights — 155, 170, and 180 cm — to match a standard sofa back, a tall reading chair, or the open volume of a double-height room.
At a glance
Pieced Alabaster Drum
Small square tiles of natural alabaster, hand-set into a continuous drum shade — a craft that machine-turning cannot replicate.
Honey Translucency
Each tile glows individually when lit, revealing its own vein pattern through the warm honey stone.
Tapered Black Pole
Powder-coated steel pole narrows from base to top — a single drawn line that lifts the shade above the floor.
Each lamp is one of a kind
Alabaster is a natural stone. Every tile in the drum is cut from a different section of stone, so the saturation of honey, the density of the dark mineral veining, and the translucency profile shift across the shade. Your lamp will share the same character as the photo, but the exact pattern of tiles will be unique to your piece.
Plug-in — no electrician required
Ships with a ~2 m (6.5 ft) cord, a standard US two-prong plug, and a foot switch on the cord. Plug into any 110–120 V wall outlet and switch on at the foot.
Three heights
155 cm · Standard
For most living rooms — clears a typical sofa back and reads in proportion to a queen-bed headboard.
W 40 × H 155 cm / W 15.7″ × H 61″
170 cm · Tall
For deeper sectionals, taller chair backs, or where the lamp sits beside an open door frame.
W 40 × H 170 cm / W 15.7″ × H 67″
180 cm · Grand
For double-height rooms, hotel lobbies, and large open-plan living areas where presence matters.
W 40 × H 180 cm / W 15.7″ × H 71″
Bulb
1× E26 · Bulb not included
Takes one E26 medium-base bulb up to 60 W (or LED equivalent). For the right glow on the alabaster mosaic, use a 2700–3000K warm white bulb — cooler color temperatures wash out the honey tones and flatten the difference between tiles.
A19 / G25 globe / ST64 vintage Edison shapes all fit

Installation
- Plug-in setup — no electrician needed. Compatible with any standard 110–120 V wall outlet.
- One E26 bulb, sold separately. Recommended: 2700–3000K warm white LED, 60 W max equivalent.
- For dimming, the foot switch is on/off only — pair with a smart bulb or use a plug-in dimmer module between the cord and outlet.
- Place on a level surface. The mosaic shade is heavier than a fabric drum — handle the lamp from the pole and base, not the shade, when moving.
- For indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor, or other damp locations.
Frequently asked
How is the mosaic shade made? Each shade is hand-pieced. Small squares of alabaster — cut from a single quarried slab and then graded for color and translucency — are set side by side around an internal metal cylinder, with thin grout lines between them. The result is a drum that reads as one continuous surface from a distance, but reveals its tile structure when you look closely or when the bulb is lit. This is why no two shades are the same: each tile carries its own veining, and the way those tiles arrange around the drum is decided by my lamp look exactly like the photo? No — and that is the nature of natural alabaster. The base honey tone and the mosaic structure will match the listing photo, but the exact tile arrangement, the depth of veining within each tile, and the distribution of darker and lighter blocks across the drum will all be unique to your piece. Treat the photo as a representative sample of the family of patterns, not as a literal preview of the shade you will height should I choose? Match the height to the room, not to the furniture alone. The 155 cm version suits standard 8 ft (2.4 m) ceilings and clears most sofa backs without towering over a seated person. The 170 cm version reads taller next to deeper sectional sofas or beside a chair with a high back, and looks balanced under 9 ft (2.7 m) ceilings. The 180 cm version is intended for double-height living rooms, hotel lobbies, and similar volumes — under a standard ceiling it will read as the dominant vertical object in the room, which may or may not be what you want. Step back from the space and decide if you want the lamp to sit within the room or to anchor bulb should I use? One E26 medium-base bulb, up to 60 W (or any LED with the same brightness rating). For the best look, choose a warm bulb in the 2700–3000K range — the honey tones in the alabaster only read correctly under warm light, and warm light also makes the variation between tiles more visible rather than less. Cooler 4000K+ bulbs flatten the mosaic into a uniform pale glow. A19, G25 globe, and ST64 vintage Edison shapes all fit comfortably inside the do I clean the alabaster tiles? Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with plain water — wring it out almost dry first, and wipe lightly across the tiles rather than scrubbing into the grout lines. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, or any acidic cleaner; alabaster is a soft calcium-based stone and acids will etch the surface permanently. Skip glass cleaners, all-purpose sprays, and abrasive pads. The black steel pole and base wipe clean with the same damp the Solavera certified for North America and Europe? Yes.
