A wall sconce in the language of classic American transitional lighting — a square brass backplate anchors a horizontal bar from which one, two, or three arms extend, each ending in a tapered linen shade above a small tassel-tip finial. The composition is disciplined and graphic: one square, one or more horizontal arms, soft fabric cones at each light source.

The brass is hand-finished — bright on the polished arm tops, deeper at the recesses where light catches. Available in four finishes (Polished Brass, Matte Black, Brushed Nickel, White) and three configurations (1, 2, or 3 heads) to scale from a single bedside accent up to a wide vanity or hallway flank. Suited to bedside walls, hallway pairs, vanity mirrors, dressing rooms, and flanking pairs above console tables in transitional, traditional, and Hollywood Regency interiors.

Hand-finished metal & tapered linen shades. Each piece is finished by hand — subtle variation in tone and polish depth between finishes is part of the artisanal character. The flared linen shades are hand-stitched and may carry minor stitch-line variation. Multi-arm versions are factory-aligned for symmetry across the bar.

Installation

• Hardwires to a standard wall junction box — professional installation recommended.
• Square backplate (D 11 × H 11 cm) covers most US single-gang boxes; verify before drilling.
• For bedside walls and hallways, install the 1-head version at 60–66″ above finished floor.
• For vanity use, center the 2-head or 3-head bar above the mirror midpoint at 75–80″ above finished floor.
• For flanking pairs above a console or mantel, install matching 1-head sconces evenly to either side at 6–9″ above the surface.
• Each linen shade clips onto its bulb-cup harp — install bulbs first, then snap shades on.
• Fits E14 candelabra-base bulbs — supply your own warm-white LED candle bulbs (one per head).

How do I pick between 1, 2, and 3 heads? +

The 1-head (∅ 5.1″ × H 17.5″) is the slimmest version — a single tapered shade rising vertically from the backplate. Use it for bedside walls, hallways, narrow walls between doors, and flanking pairs to either side of a mirror or console. The 2-head (∅ 13″ wide bar) and 3-head (∅ 16.1″ wide bar) extend horizontally — better for wider walls, vanity mirrors, and gallery-style flanking installations.

What height should I install it at? +

For bedside walls and hallways, install at 60–66″ from finished floor to the center of the sconce. For vanity use above a mirror, the 2-head and 3-head versions center 75–80″ above finished floor with the bar across the mirror midpoint. For flanking pairs above a console table or fireplace mantel, center 6–9″ above the surface and space evenly on either side.

Is the Hillsdale dimmable? +

Yes, with the right bulbs. Each head takes an E14 candelabra-base bulb. Install dimmable LED candle bulbs on a TRIAC wall dimmer and the sconce dims smoothly across all heads. Warm white 2700K–3000K is recommended for the flattering linen-shade glow that the design depends on.

Which finish should I pick? +

Polished Brass (pictured) is the classic transitional finish — warm, reflective, suits wood floors, cream walls, and brass-toned hardware. Matte Black anchors modern, gallery, and high-contrast schemes. Brushed Nickel reads cooler and is fresh in coastal, contemporary, and pale-walled rooms. White disappears into the wall for the quietest installation — best when the linen shade should be the focal point.

What bulbs does it take, and how many? +

One E14 candelabra-base bulb per head — one for the 1-head version, two for the 2-head, three for the 3-head. We recommend warm-white 2700K–3000K LED candle bulbs at 40W incandescent equivalent each. Avoid daylight (5000K+) — it cools the linen tone and clashes with the warm-metal finishes.
